RECENTERING THE LENS Find the location of a decentered lens by having the patient look in different positions of gaze and lifting the lids away to view the cul-de-sac. Once located, pull the lid(s) back far enough to get the lid beyond the edge of the lens. With the lid margin push the lens gently back onto the cornea. Do NOT rub the lens through the lids or hold the lens in place with the lids and have the patient turn their eye into the lens. Both of these procedures could result in discomfort and/or a cornea abrasion.
